London, Ontario Review– Top 6 Activities for Families

Check out our list of 6 activities you can do with your family in London, Ontario, Canada.

1. Storybook Gardens located at 1958 Storybook Lane

Owned and operated by the City of London this attraction is a family favourite all year round. This beautiful and spacious outdoor venue provides families with walking trails, fun exhibits and scenic look-out points.

Children can expend their boundless energy bouncing on the giant lilypad trampoline pillow, climbing on a pirate ship, building a sandcastle or frolicking in the splashpad area.

Plan ahead so you arrive in time to be entertained by one of the various shows at the Village Square Stage.  Purchase tickets at an additional fee if you want to ride the Carousel, the Mechanical Elephant, the Springbank Express Train, the Swings, or the Ferris Wheel.

In the winter bring or rent your skates and cruise around the 250-metre skate train which meanders through the park grounds.   Admission varies by the season and ranges from $3.50 to $9.00. Check out all they have to offer at their website General admission | Storybook Gardens (london.ca)

2. Museum London located at 421 Rideout Street North.

In addition to many historical and trendy exhibits, Museum London also offers interactive programs and learning events for children such as clay modelling, crafts, sewing, weaving and painting.

Museum London was established in 1940.  It is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00am to 5:00pm and Thursdays until 8:00pm.  Admission is FREE although they appreciate donations.

Located downtown beside the Thames River this activity is a great way for families to learn about the region, it’s artistic heritage and it’s local artists while enjoying family time together.

3. Boler Mountain located at 689 Griffith Street

Boler Mountain and also known as the London Ski Club is more than just a ski resort.  Divided into two operating seasons, Winter and Green, there is something for everyone at Boler Mountain.

In the Winter season you can learn to ski or snowboard.  Boler operates a ski school for a variety of ages.  My favourite activity is absolutely the exhilarating and slightly terrifying tube runs that are climb 10 stories high and propel you at speeds of 70km/hr!

In the Green Season that runs from May to October visitors can play beach volleyball, cycle through the mountain biking trails or sign up for a Yoga, Zumba or Boot Camp Class.

Conquer your fear of heights and buy a ticket for the Treetop Adventure Park.  The activities in the adventure park include multiple zip lines, rope courses, swinging bridges, tarzan swings, pirate nets and much more.

After a full day of adventure take a seat at The Patio to enjoy a refreshing beverage and some delicious menu options.

4. London Children's Museum located at 21 Wharncliffe Rd S

It says it is great for children right in the name.  This interactive museum allows kids to experience science, technology, and culture exhibits hands on.

This museum is most fun for children under the age of 10 and costs $11.00 for adults and kids over the age of 2.   One of the best features of this museum is that it is open most holidays giving families something to look forward to when other activities are closed.  For this feature alone it may be worth signing up for a family membership.

5. Fanshawe Pioneer Village located in the Fanshawe Conservation Area at 1424 Clarke Road

Step back into history when you visit this quaint historical village in the beautiful Fanshawe Conservation area.  The not-for-profit charity tells the story of London and the surrounding areas from 1820 to 1920.

The townspeople, aka staff, are knowledgeable and enthusiastic really adding to the atmosphere and experience.  Admission is $12 or less per person with children 3 and under entering for free.

Pioneer Village will run events throughout the year so check out their calendar of events.  Be careful if you visit around Halloween as the village becomes abandoned and spooky with terrifying haunted houses to test your bravery.  They do offer a “no scare” option for the younger members of your groups.

6. Springbank Park located at 1080 Commissioners Rd W, London N6K 1C3

This is one of London's largest and most beautiful parks. It features over 30 km walking and biking trails making it the largest park in London.  Pack a picnic and enjoy scenery while the children play on the playground or frolic in the splashpad.
